1-Kilometer Course
(Kids' K Race)
Get ready for an exhilarating adventure at the Kids K race during the Camp Drake Trail Race 2023! Young adventurers will embark on an unforgettable journey through nature's wonderland. Here's a thrilling glimpse of the course:
Start at the friendship circle and head north towards the plateau. Experience the excitement as you follow the path west, running across the breathtaking Plateau. Head south and cross by the iconic Meyers Shelter towards handy craft fueled by the cheers of the crowd.
From there head south, running by the aquatics center, towards First Year! Passing by all of those waiting in the Friendship circle for you. Halfway there!! Follow the curve around the back of the circle and head towards the main road. Take a left before hitting the main road!
At the road for the tin shed, you will hang a left and begin your way towards the Friendship circle once more. Listening for the cheers of those waiting for you! You will finish the race by crossing the finish line at the entrance to the Friendship circle.

New 5-Kilometer Course!
The 5K course provides a faster, more familiar distance of trail for runners.
The race begins in the friendship circle and heads towards Hickory Haven. The course doubles back to main camp up the plateau before taking the Shady Hollow Trail back to River Road's terminus. Continuing straight all the way until the banks of the river! Follow the river all the way to the swinging bridge and up the stairs for mile one.
The second mile continues up the stairs to ecology, back to the Shady Hollow Trail. You will take a right upon entering back into main camp, and head towards Curved Oak Campsite! You will follow the trail behind the campsite to some of the more scenic routes of this race. Camp Drake's steepest ascent at over 60 feet. The trail heads through the ROAP forest trails to the other side of the main road. Exiting into a clearing you will finish of the second mile near the entrance to the range.
The 3rd mile of the 5K begins right around the entrance to the range. You follow out to the shotgun range and travels along the slightly hilly terrain towards the road, then hanging a left for more exciting hills! Continuing on and turning through the Rankin Outdoor Adventure Place, the course stretches the length of Campsite Road before doubling back through main camp. For the last tenth of a mile or so, you will loop around and head to the finish line at the Friendship Circle.
